How can therapy help?

Engaging in therapy can lead you towards a better understanding of your experience and an increased ability to navigate life's challenges. Some might seek out therapy to make bothersome symptoms go away, or to alleviate the discomfort of certain feelings. However, therapy is less about stopping these parts of our experience, and more about starting the process of understanding and working with them.

We believe that therapy can help you start seeing the difficult aspects of your experience as helpful feedback, empowering you towards a process of learning and growth. Being open to all parts of your experience, yes even the difficult ones, moves you towards a healthier relationship with yourself, one where you can start discovering more of your strengths and potential.

Our Approach to Therapy

We focus on using approaches that invite clients to engage with their experience in the present moment. Talking is important, however, it's not the only way of connecting with and understanding what's going on inside of us. Experiential activities encourage both internal and external movement, helping us connect to and process the deeper parts of our experience.

We use many different forms of play with clients including:

  • board & card games
  • sport activities
  • video games & virtual reality
  • expressive arts

These approaches also create an opportunity for clients to increase awareness about their experience. They invite both fun and frustration into the therapy process, which are two important ingredients in developing emotional resilience.
